Submitting Your Book to Nebraska Book Source

Submitting Your Book to Nebraska Book Source

At some point in the last five years I had hoped to update our submission process with a new document that would be available for download on this site. I had also planned to go through the few books that had been handed to me in one way or another to consider for the website.

Our book design and custom publishing counterpart, Infusionmedia, has continued to expand to the point where me personally vetting each and every book for Nebraska Book Source is just impossible. That's a good thing. It also means some changes need to be made.

My apologies to all who have sent me a book to consider for NBS. If I still have contact information, I will be in touch, and we'll discuss possibilities.

For those authors and publishers who wish to submit a book for consideration, here are our new rules:

  • To be considered, the book must be about Nebraska, related to Nebraska, or be by a Nebraska author.
  • Our vetting process will no longer include reading the book; skimming is all we have time to do, if that.
  • We need one copy of the book to review. That book will then go into inventory to be sold if the book is accepted. Send the book to Cris Trautner, Nebraska Book Source, 140 North 8th Street #214, Lincoln, NE 68508-1353.
  • Expect a reply within six months. Yes, months.
  • We ask 45 percent of the cover price; the remainder goes to you. Payment will be issued either quarterly, biannually, or annually, depending on sales volume.
  • We will do our best to represent your book well, but we make no guarantee of sale. The best way to sell your book online is to promote it offline and in social media.
